White Night

From the shade of David…

I just returned from the shade of a bronzed David, as DrawnTown 12 took to Fawick Park on the banks of the Sioux River, in downtown Sioux Falls. Celebrating its first year, DrawnTown is a great collaborative evening, as artists, talkers, and yes, even troublemakers, converge to make something special happen.

DrawnTown is a great way to connect, beyond a worthwhile investment in creating a few fresh pieces of Karma, check back later for a few of those.

A big thanks to the Graphic Content folks, Andrew and Kiel for sure, I’ll look forward to seeing you at White Night this July!

Next Stop, White Night!

White Night is almost here, it’s only 9 weeks away afterall, so that’s really soon! I’m incredibly excited to be part of this festival,  and I’m even beginning to jump out of my borrowed Grant Wood knickers (see twitter

Our fine council, the Madison Area Arts Council, is proud to be bringing the first-ever White Night festival to the States (that’s 50 of em’) to Madison on July 1st from 5-10pm.

We’ll be making art happen, much like DrawnTown or Third Place Nights, but on an insane level, with community, collaboration, and sheer passion. Everyone is welcome, and anything can happen, perhaps its best to check out this link for more

Working on ‘The BrickHouse’…

I’ve been busy these last few months working on ‘The BrickHouse Community Arts Center’, our new home for the Arts & Culture here in Madison. As president of the Madison Area Arts Council, one of the leading volunteer-based councils in the state, we’ve been launching all sorts of new, and best of all, free & open programming efforts this past year.

Over the past few weeks we’ve announced ‘Third Place Nights’, which is an open-studio community exchange of arts, culture, and everything else down at ‘The BrickHouse’. We’ve also just announced ‘White Night’, as part of our ongoing Chautauqua Series, which is a free & open festival celebrating the arts, culture, and community this coming July.

Essentially for this past year, I’ve been working and dedicating my energies and efforts to creating and maintaining successful, and always free & open, cultural opportunities for the Madison area. It’s been a rewarding experience, and I continue onward with a few great hands too, working on creating as we call it, a vibrant arts community!

Maybe karma will show its hand yet, we’ll see…
