Featuring the work of Chris Francis – 2011 South Dakota Arts Council Artist Project Grant Recipient

Dakota State University

Always on the move…

Chris Francis’ solo exhibition ‘Remnants & Remains’ is now open and is available for your viewing and your student’s viewing too. Chris’s work examines a single landscape motif in a series of luminous forms that suggest exotic and familiar places. This kind of investment and examination of a single motif began with artists like Claude Monet whose paintings of haystacks or the face of Rouen Cathedral in changing seasons and times of day, suggested a way forward for painters in the modern era. A reception for Chris is planned and will be announced in the near future. – Alan Montgomery, Gallery Director

Thanks Alan, this was a great opportunity to show locally, and I’m eager to come back with a fresh body of work in the future.  Be sure to check out the Karl E. Mundt Library Art Gallery on the campus of Dakota State University in Madison often, there’s always something great going on!
