Featuring the work of Chris Francis – 2011 South Dakota Arts Council Artist Project Grant Recipient

‘Remnants & Remains’ 2008-09

Earth, skies, and a little something in the middle…

This body of work was completed over the winter of 2008-2009, cause when it’s cold in South Dakota you don’t go looking for trouble outside.  I find that I’m a cold-weather painter and a warm-weather troublemaker, so depending on the time of year, you can figure what I’m up to.

Be sure to check out the Artist Statement behind the work, as this is the direction where I’ve headed in for a while, about the last few years anyhow.  You can also follow the progression on the sidebar, but there’s always something new I’m working out.

If you’re interested in purchasing work, just contact me at chris@eastofegan.com All work comes framed and ready to hang and enjoy, so here’s your opportunity!

ARTIST STATEMENT

‘Our mortal and spiritual existence lies within the confines of the impermanence of the celestial heavens above and the near permanence of our terrestrial earth beneath. I have been drawn to the convergence of these natural bodies, working to capture the remnants and remains of this fleeting experience’
