Featuring the work of Chris Francis – 2011 South Dakota Arts Council Artist Project Grant Recipient

Sneak-Peak of Salon Postcards

I’ve been working on creating a few fresh pieces of work, otherwise known as karma, for the first-ever Postcard Salon. This is a new fundraiser for Sioux Empire Arts Council, which will be held at the Horse Barn Arts Center on Saturday, April 17th from 5-7:30pm in Sioux Falls.

These works were completed with actual Crayola crayons on an extra-heavyweight paper, and you thought  crayons were for kids. Anyhow, the results were interesting, as I’ve been exploring the use of crayon for a while now, I really like the feel of the wax on the paper, and how easy they’re to work with. A big departure from the hazards of oil, which occupy most of my artistic energies, and unfortunately most of my remaining senses.

If you would like to have the opportunity to purchase these works, be sure to attend the Postcard Salon and Sale on April 17th from 5-7:30pm, all of the featured works will be priced at $30, with 1/2 of the proceeds benefiting the SEAC and their continuing programming efforts. Now that’s some good karma!
